Ruby Red

The hulking behemoth’s eye slid open, it’s sleep disturbed. A silent cry echoed through the thick autumn fog, ringing in it’s ears. Somewhere, somehow, the beast’s last child drew it’s final breath. A heavy sigh escaped the beast’s pursed lips, it’s chest heaving under the surge of emotions. It’s body was sluggish and slow, atrophied from an eternity of slumber.

The beast knew what was coming, and it knew what must be done.
